Alternative Energy Wind Production: Can Play A Major Roll In Future

Alternative energy wind power can potentially play a very important role in our planet's future energy production. Although the media are focusing their attention on solar power, the people involved with the incredible task of planning the future's energy production have come to the conclusion that we need to adapt a more holistic approach to the problem. It may be true that solar power can provide most of the energy we need for our future, however, the best result we can derive would be to combining the best of all the technologies we have available.

It is an interesting to note that our planet has many areas that could not as easily use solar power. However, areas which are weak in the solar resource tend to be strong in other resources. For those areas in the more northern and southern zones, where solar power would not be able to sustain the needs as there simply is not enough sunlight, and there is less land mass compared to amount of area that is covered in water. These areas tend to have consistent strong winds, especially offshore. Due to this fact, the combination of solar and wind power would be the obvious way for satisfying their particular energy needs.

As both wind and solar energy systems are completely dependent on a consistent supply of the natural resource, the combination of the technology only makes sense. There are always going to be times when seas are calm and sunlight is hidden behind heavy clouds. .What is needed is a method of storing energy so that the supply will continue throughout any unpredictable weather condition. We have the ideal storage solution in hydrogen, which can effectively store up power generated from either solar or wind power.

Using wind as an alternative energy power source very clearly has a significant role to play in continuing to develop a sustainable energy future our planet so badly needs. Although wind power attracted some negative press because of the impact the windmills may have on the environment. In countries that use wind energy you can travel to what was once a beautiful spot and now find it covered with rows of slowly turning wind turbines. It should be noted thought that we realize that this technology need not be a permanent feature of our landscape.

Since alternative energy wind power technologies are developing the financial incentives are changing as well. Currently, it is still cheaper to produce wind energy onshore opposed to offshore. This however will not always be true, as the supply of offshore wind has such huge potential. With the strong currents, the capacity is virtually unlimited, however, the costs are also quite extraordinary. Since the technology is till in the preliminary stage, the greatest progress to developing wind power is onshore Then once the technology is perfected and matured it can be taken offshore. When wind turbines need to be replaced after an approximate twenty five year life span, it is very possible that unsightly onshore turbines will not be replaced as the offshore installations of alternative energy wind projects will prove to be the future .
