Alternative Energy Development: The Best Way For Sustainable Future

If we are to consider one of the most important issues about our species survival, then alternative energy development has to be right up there. Since the fossil fuels we have been consuming up until now is rapidly running out, we must address the issues now. The time for debate is over and the time for action is closer than many dare to think. Although the supply is not exhausted, we must recognize the huge amount of damage we are doing to our planet and the environment by the continuous emission of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels. We absolutely need to make a change, and we need to make it while we still have enough of the old fuel to make the change as painless as possible.

In time, new alternative energy sources will take over the entire supply of the world's energy needs. There is no doubt whatsoever that these technologies have the potential to do this. Even if solar energy has the capacity to provide more than enough energy to allow the continued economic development of the entire world population, there are other technologies which should also have a significant part to play. The way forward is clear, and all that we must do is to develop those technologies that will allow us to realize our potential.

The alternative energy movement ha always considered solar energy as the cutting edge of our needs, and it is likely to remain so. Solar technologies are evolving continually, with photovoltaic systems being able to generate ever greater amounts of electricity at the same or even less expense. When solar energy becomes cheaper than fossil fuel in areas where there are warm temperatures and sunlight, a major breakthrough will have been made.

Even though solar energy has the potential to provide enough power to fuel the entire planet, it will never be the best or cheapest option. The main reason for this is because there are many regions of the world that do not have enough sunlight or a high enough temperature for this technology to be viable . Usually though, these areas are often compensated with high winds which can be used for wind power. The best new alternative energy strategy for the world will combine these power sources.

Hydrogen can be used as a method to store the energy that is produced by alternative energy development. With this advance the problem of maintaining a constant supply of energy is unnecessary. Therefore, during high production times, the energy can be stored as hydrogen to be used at another time. This would be the best way to overcome the problem of an inconsistent supply which is currently the problem with using renewable energy. The greatest degree of sustainable alternative energy development will be a combination of solar to hydrogen and wind to hydrogen technologies .
